WMS Integration for Automated Package Dimensioning

WMS Integration for Automated Dimensioning

Packizon’s Dim L1 connects directly to your warehouse management system — no middleware, no manual data entry, no sync delays. Every scan pushes accurate dimensions and weight to your WMS in real time, the moment the package clears the belt.

Why WMS Integration Matters for Dimensioning

A dimensioner that can’t talk to your WMS creates a gap. Operators either re-enter measurements manually — which introduces errors — or work around the system entirely, defeating the purpose of automation. The Dim L1 eliminates that gap.

When your WMS receives accurate dimensional data automatically on every scan, downstream processes improve across the board: shipping label accuracy, carrier billing, slot optimization, and fulfillment SLAs all tighten up without extra staff effort.

Compatible Warehouse Management Systems

The Dim L1 supports API and flat-file integration with major WMS platforms used in North American 3PL, ecommerce, and distribution operations:

  • Manhattan Associates WMS
  • Blue Yonder (JDA) Warehouse Management
  • Oracle WMS Cloud
  • SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
  • HighJump / Korber WMS
  • Infor WMS
  • 3PL Central / Extensiv
  • ShipBob, ShipHero, and other fulfillment platforms

If your WMS is not on this list, our integration team evaluates custom connections during onboarding. Most modern WMS platforms support REST API or EDI-based data exchange — both of which the Dim L1 handles natively.

How the Integration Works

The Dim L1 runs on NVIDIA edge AI hardware and processes every scan locally — no cloud required. Once a package is dimensioned, the system pushes the LWH measurements, weight, barcode, timestamp, and scan station ID to your WMS via your configured integration method:

  • REST API: Real-time POST to your WMS endpoint on every scan
  • Flat file / CSV: Batch export at configurable intervals for legacy systems
  • Direct database write: Available for on-premise WMS deployments with database access
  • Middleware connectors: Works alongside MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, and similar integration platforms

Carrier Billing Integration

Beyond WMS, the Dim L1 connects directly to carrier billing systems so DIM weight charges are applied at the point of measurement — not reconciled after the fact. Native integrations include UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL. This eliminates the most common source of carrier billing disputes in high-volume fulfillment operations.

Implementation Timeline

Most WMS integrations are completed during standard onboarding. Packizon’s integration team works directly with your WMS vendor or IT team to map data fields, test throughput at volume, and validate accuracy before go-live. Typical deployment for a new integration runs two to four weeks depending on WMS complexity and your internal IT availability.

No Internet Required

The Dim L1 processes everything on-device. Your WMS integration runs over your local network — not through Packizon’s cloud. This matters for operations with strict network security requirements or facilities that can’t guarantee reliable internet uptime. The dimensioner keeps scanning even if external connectivity is lost.
